The Calton String Quartet Sat 12 Oct

As part of the Herne Hill Music Festival the Calton String Quartet will be returning to the Carnegie Library to entertain library users and visitors. This event is organised with the Friends of the Carnegie Library, who will provide refreshments.

The Quartet will perform a variety of pieces by the classical masters such as Beethoven and Brahms, and also Twentieth Century British pieces by composers such as Frank Bridge. Continue reading The Calton String Quartet Sat 12 Oct

Lambeth Archives open day: 1913 – Edwardian swansong 28 Sept

A day-long programme of talks, exhibitions, stalls from local organisations,and children’s activities. The day is loosely focused on the period a century ago, just before the outbreak of World War I. This was a time of social and political change, sometimes controversial, and for the small number of people who could afford it, of extravagance.
