Lambeth Archives open day: 1913 – Edwardian swansong 28 Sept

A day-long programme of talks, exhibitions, stalls from local organisations,and children’s activities. The day is loosely focused on the period a century ago, just before the outbreak of World War I. This was a time of social and political change, sometimes controversial, and for the small number of people who could afford it, of extravagance. Open House London – Sat 21-Sun 22 Sept

openhouseThe Carnegie Library will be featured in Open House London on both Saturday and Sunday 21-22 September this year, from 9.00 - 5.00.

There will be guided tours of the building, including non-public areas, refreshments and special display.

More volunteers to steward, guide or serve tea would be welcome: please get in touch if you can help.

Big Health Debate + Diabetes Awareness Session – Wed 18 Sept

The Herne Hill Medical Practice and Patient Participation Group are hosting an information evening at the Carnegie Library:

  • GP and Chair of Lambeth Commissioning Group, Adrian McLachlan will be hosting the Big Health Debate
  • A diabetes specialist nurse will be discussing diabetes awareness as well as a service that provides healthy lifestyle options

Come along and get involved this Wednesday 18th September, 6pm-8.30pm at the Carnegie library.

Local Cubs visit the Carnegie garden – Fri 7 Jun

Approximately 20 Cubs from the 5th Camberwell troop descended on the Library after hours on Friday 7th June to indulge in extreme weed clearance and hedge cutting. Armed with the Friends' stock of trowels, safety gloves and (supervised) secateurs, they set to work with abandon. This activity, undertaken as part of the Cub Scouts' mission to give back to the community, formed part of the requirements to achieve the Community challenge badge which the pack have been working toward.
